Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known as her stage name, Halsey, has skyrocketed this year. Beginning as a teenage singer with big dreams and an even bigger personality, Halsey was born through technology. Her first fans were from MySpace, Instagram, and Twitter. One could say Halsey’s success was due to her fans being able to relate to her life, stories, and emotions, as if they were their own. At only 20 years old, the young artist pursued what she wanted, and she got it. Known for having strong opinions, self love, determination, and no filter, Halsey is the icon teenagers everywhere have been waiting for. Truly an overnight success, Halsey’s first single “Ghost” brought attention to her talents by several record labels, including Astralwerks, a division of Capitol Records. After the release of her EP titled “Room 93″, she acquired a large “cult” following that were dedicated to her every move. After a year of touring, in both small venues and enormous arenas (opening for Imagine Dragons), her name spread like wildfire, appearing as VEVO’s newest Lift artist, becoming a Billboard.com favorite, an article in the New York Times, and making her debut on television on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Her debut album, Badlands, a concept album focusing on her mental state as a metaphor for a unescapable dystopian metropolis, is in high demand, and fans wait with bated breath for August 28th, the day of release.
